Job change astrology is the reading of your chart to see when a move is supported and what kind of work suits you, and it rests on three things judged together: the tenth house of career and its lord, the dasha that is running, and the slow transits of Saturn and Jupiter. One of them alone proves nothing. When all three point the same way, the window for a change is open; when they disagree, the chart is usually saying wait, or at least do not resign before the new offer is signed.
The question reaches me in many forms: should I take this offer, why has my promotion stalled, will I get a government job, when will this bad stretch at work end. They are all the same reading underneath. This guide explains how I look at it, which houses matter beyond the tenth, how the dasha sets the timing, and the honest limits of what any chart can promise.
Which houses decide career in the kundli?
The tenth house is the house of career, status and the work you are known for, read with the Sun, Saturn, Mercury and Jupiter as its significators. It is never read alone. Employment and service belong to the sixth, income to the second and eleventh, and partnerships, which matter for anyone thinking of business, to the seventh. The guide to the twelve houses covers each of them in full.
| House or factor | What it shows for a job change | What I check |
|---|---|---|
| 10th house | Career, status, the nature of the work | Its lord’s strength and placement, planets in it, aspects on it |
| 6th house | Service, employment, competition, the daily job | Whether the move is to another job or away from employment |
| 11th house | Gains, income, fulfilment of aims | Whether the change brings more income or only a new title |
| 2nd house | Accumulated wealth, family resources | Whether savings can carry a gap between jobs |
| 7th house | Partnerships, business, contracts | Whether business suits better than employment |
| Running dasha | When events in these houses can happen | Which houses the dasha and antardasha lords rule and occupy |
The sixth house is the one people forget, and it answers a question they often have not asked. A strong sixth with a weak tenth suggests employment suits better than independence; a strong tenth with a strong seventh points towards business or partnership. Before advising on any change, I want to know which of the two the chart actually supports.
How the dasha decides the timing of a job change
The houses show what the chart promises. The Vimshottari dasha shows when. Each planet rules a period, and events connected to the houses that planet owns or occupies come to life during it. A career move is most likely in the mahadasha or antardasha of a planet linked to the tenth house or its lord, by ownership, placement or aspect.
- The tenth lord’s own period. The classic time for a rise or a change in role.
- A planet placed in the tenth. Its period activates the house it sits in, for better or worse depending on its strength.
- A planet aspecting the tenth or its lord. A weaker link, usually felt in the antardasha rather than the whole mahadasha.
- Sixth-house periods. Often bring a change of employer or a new job rather than a rise in the same one.
- Twelfth-house periods. Can bring a move abroad, a break, or an expense attached to the change. Not always unwelcome, but rarely a quiet time.
The houses tell you what is possible; the dasha tells you when. A good offer in the wrong period is not a reason to refuse it, but it is a reason to read the contract twice.
What Saturn and Jupiter transits add
The slow planets refine the window the dasha opens. Saturn takes about two and a half years to cross a sign and Jupiter about one year, so their movement over the tenth house, its lord or the Moon is the clock most career readings are set against. Tradition holds that a major career event is most likely when both Saturn and Jupiter influence the tenth house or its lord at the same time, during a supporting dasha.
Saturn over the tenth is often read as pressure, responsibility and a heavier load, which can mean promotion as easily as strain. Saturn transiting the twelfth, first and second from the Moon is Sade Sati, and it is not a ban on changing jobs. Many people change work during it because the old position becomes impossible; the question is whether the tenth house and the dasha support the new one.
When the chart says wait
Part of an honest reading is saying when not to move. These are the signs that make me advise patience, or at least advise securing the new role before leaving the old one.
- The dasha lord has no link to the tenth, sixth or eleventh. Change in such a period tends to stall or come back to where it started.
- The tenth lord is weak and under affliction by transit. Moves made now often look good for a few months and then disappoint.
- The eleventh house is weak while the twelfth is active. A change that costs more than it pays, or brings a gap between jobs.
- The decision is being made to escape rather than to arrive. The chart cannot fix that, and I will say so.
Remedies have a place, but a modest one. Strengthening a supportive planet through its mantra, a fast on its day or, only after the chart has been read properly, a gemstone, is said to steady the period. None of them replaces the application, the interview or the negotiation, and I do not sell any of them as a shortcut to an offer.
Career readings in Mauritius
A career reading needs the exact date, time and place of birth, because the tenth house moves with the ascendant and a wrong birth time can put it in the wrong sign. If the time is not known, birth time rectification recovers it from the dates of past events, and job changes are among the most useful of those dates.
I give career and business readings in person in Port Louis and across Mauritius, and online by phone or WhatsApp. The career and business astrology service covers job changes, promotions, business launches and partnerships. If you are weighing an offer or wondering when this stretch at work will end, send your birth details and the decision you face, and the reading will be built around it.
Frequently asked questions
Job change astrology is the reading of a birth chart to judge when a change of work is supported and what kind of work suits the person. It looks at the tenth house of career and its lord, the sixth house of service and the eleventh of gains, the dasha that is running, and the transits of Saturn and Jupiter. No single factor decides it; the three have to agree.
A period whose planet is connected to the tenth house or its lord, by ownership, placement or aspect, is the one in which career events tend to happen. The antardasha within it narrows the window. A strong dasha lord supports a move; a weak or afflicted one often brings change that is forced rather than chosen.
No honest astrologer gives an exact date. The chart shows windows, usually a few months when the dasha and the transits agree, and the effort, the applications and the interviews still have to happen inside that window. Anyone promising a date is promising more than the chart shows.
Not automatically. Sade Sati brings pressure and slower results, and many people change jobs during it because the old role becomes unbearable. Whether the change is wise depends on the tenth house and the running dasha, not on Saturn’s transit alone.
Yes. I read charts for career and business questions in person in Port Louis and across Mauritius, and online by phone or WhatsApp. Send your date, time and place of birth and the decision you are facing, and the reading is built around that decision.
