Why families match kundlis before marriage
In Vedic tradition, horoscope matching is the first step of a marriage conversation, not the last. The two Moons are compared across eight kootas, from Varna to Nadi, and the agreement between them is scored out of 36. The score reveals how the two temperaments, fortunes and energies are likely to sit together, and it flags the doshas, Nadi and Bhakoot, that tradition treats with the most care.
The matching on this page is the genuine article: each partner’s sidereal Moon position is computed precisely from the date, time and time zone of birth, and every koota is scored the classical way. Our guide to how the 36 gunas actually work explains each layer of the score in plain language.
After the score
The number is where a proper matching begins
Software can count gunas. Judgement takes an astrologer. When you send both birth details, Acharya Amit Pandey completes the three checks the score cannot make.
Dosha and cancellation check
Nadi and Bhakoot doshas have classical cancellation rules that raw scoring cannot apply. Both charts are read to confirm whether a flagged dosha truly holds for your pair.
Mangal Dosh in both charts
Manglik status is checked from the ascendant, Moon and Venus in each chart, including the mutual-dosha rule that quietly clears many matches families were worried about.
Seventh house and timing
The houses of marriage, the navamsa chart and the running dashas decide how the relationship actually unfolds. None of this appears in a Moon-only score.
Frequently asked questions
Kundli matching, or Guna Milan, compares the birth charts of two prospective partners across eight classical kootas worth 36 points in total. Families across Mauritius and India use it before finalising a marriage to understand temperament, prosperity and health compatibility, and to catch doshas that deserve attention early.
18 or more out of 36 is traditionally acceptable, 25 to 32 is very good, and above 32 is excellent. Below 18 means closer examination is needed, especially of which specific koota is failing, not that the marriage is impossible.
Not before verification. Both doshas have classical cancellation rules, for example when the two Moon signs share the same lord, which raw scoring does not apply. Many strong matches show a flagged dosha that cancels on proper reading. Have both charts checked before drawing any conclusion.
It runs the same Ashtakoota arithmetic used in classical matching, from precisely computed sidereal Moon positions with the Lahiri ayanamsa. What it cannot do is judgement: dosha cancellations, Mangal Dosh, seventh-house strength and dasha timing need a full reading of both charts by the astrologer.
