The most useful filter when you are looking for the best astrologers in Mauritius is also the least discussed one: check whether the person is actually in Mauritius. On the first page of Google for “astrologer in Mauritius” and “best astrologer in Mauritius” on 16 September 2026, most of the websites ranking there published an Indian +91 telephone number, not a Mauritian +230 one. They consult Mauritian families by phone and video from India. That is a legitimate way to practise, and several of those astrologers have decades behind them. It does mean that if your chart calls for a puja, nobody is coming to your house to perform it.

I am writing this as one of the people in the list, so read it with that in mind. These are the practices appearing on the first page of Google for the two main searches, with what each one states about itself on its own website. Nothing here is my assessment of anyone’s skill, which is not something a table can hold. It is simply where they are and what they publish.

Google’s local results that day showed a separate group again: Psychic Shivaram and Astrologer Hari Krishna, both in Quatre Bornes, and a listing named Top/Best Astrologer in Mauritius in Port Louis, each carrying a five star rating from a small number of reviews. Practitioners who work mainly from a Google listing rather than a website are easy to overlook and should not be. Ask them the same questions you would ask anyone else.

The five checks worth making before you book

1. 1.Where they are. A +230 number and a physical address in Mauritius means someone can sit with you, and can perform a ceremony at your home if the chart calls for one. A +91 number means a good reading by video and nothing beyond it.
2. 2.Whether they ask for your birth time. Date and place alone cannot produce a real Vedic reading, because the birth time sets the ascendant and every house position after it. An astrologer who does not ask for the time, or who does not offer rectification when you do not know it, is not reading a chart.
3. 3.Whether they will tell you nothing is wrong. The test of an honest reading is what happens when the chart is unremarkable. If every consultation ends in a dosha and an expensive remedy, the remedy was decided before the chart was opened.
4. 4.Whether the fee is discussed before the work. Ask what a reading includes and what a ceremony would involve, in advance. Nobody serious minds the question, and a large sum quoted for a remedy before the chart has been examined is the clearest warning you will get.
5. 5.Whether they will say the limits out loud. Astrology works alongside medical, legal and financial advice, never instead of it, and a chart cannot guarantee an outcome. Anyone promising a marriage within the year or the removal of an illness is selling something other than astrology.

The strongest signal of a good astrologer is not what they promise you. It is whether they are willing to tell you the chart does not support what you were hoping to hear.

Reading the chart and performing the puja are two different jobs

This is the distinction most lists of astrologers miss. An astrologer reads the chart. A pandit performs the ceremony. In Mauritius the two are often separate people, and the family ends up carrying the diagnosis from one to the other. Something is usually lost on the way: the puja that gets performed is the popular one rather than the one the chart asked for.

Where one person does both, that gap closes. The dosha is identified in the chart, the ritual that addresses it is chosen for that reason, and the muhurat comes from the same reading.
